As a performer, Leda Meredith's career spans contemporary dance, classical ballet, and theatre. Originally from San Francisco, California, Leda Meredith now resides in New York City. She has been a principal dancer with American Ballet Theatre II, Edward Villella, Manhattan Ballet, Dances...Patrelle, San Francisco Opera Ballet, and others. Choreographers she has worked with include Robert North, Lynne Taylor-Corbett, Ron Brown, Donlin Foreman, Francis Patrelle, John Brooks, and Alan Hineline. She was a company member of Jennifer Muller/The Works for over seven years, and originated numerous roles in the repertory including Degas Revisited for the company's 1998 New York season at the Joyce. She is currently artistic associate for the company. Her performances have taken her to twenty-five countries on four continents.
Ms. Meredith has worked nationally and internationally as one of the few officially accredited teachers of the Muller technique. She is a returning guest instructor for the Henny Jurriens Stichting/Foundation in Amsterdam, Western Washington University; and Dance Loft in Rorschach, Switzerland. Ms. Meredith is currently on faculty with Ballet Academy East. She has taught as part of the 1996 Iles de Danse in France, and for the Artist's Trusts International Course for Professional Choreographers and Composers in England. In December, 1999 she was guest instructor for Carolyn Carlson�s Atelier de Paris. Other dance programs she has taught for include the California State University at Los Angeles, Brigham Young University in Hawaii, and SUNY � Oswego.
In the Spring of 2000, Ms. Meredith will be choreographing a new work, Lullaby Lane, for Jennifer Muller/The Works� 25th anniversary season at the Joyce Theater in NYC. The piece will have original music by composer James Sasser, with whom she is also collaborating on a full evening dance theater piece, Small Talk At The Volcano. Other choreographic credits include works for Malaparte Theatre Company, Peridance International, the Hatch Saturday Series, First Fridays at Five, and the Arts on the Hudson Festival. Ms. Meredith has self produced her own work at the Gene Frankel Theatre in New York. In April, 2000 she will be at the Dansatelier in Rotterdam with Michael Jahoda and Maria Naidu co-creating a full evening cabaret entitled All About Angels and Eggs.
Ms. Meredith is also an Ethnobotany Certificate Candidate at the NY
Botanical Gardens on a tuition grant from Career Transition For Dancers,
and co-founder of Theia Bath Products.
